Self-help program

1. WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?

Insomnia is a very common problem. Most people experience insomnia at some point in their lives. Insomnia can be difficulty falling or staying asleep, or it can be unwanted awakenings during the night.

Many factors, such as certain life situations and stress, contribute to insomnia. It is estimated that up to 30% of adults suffer from insomnia.

The first part of the Self-Help Program for Insomnia answers the following questions:

  • What is sleep and what is insomnia?
  • What are the prerequisites for good sleep?
  • What are the health risks associated with insomnia?
  • What causes insomnia?

You will also be asked to set your own goals according to what you want to achieve with the self-help program.

Change requires motivation

You are probably looking for better-quality sleep or to change your life in a way that will make it easier for you to fall asleep or deal with insomnia. The good news is that your goals are achievable through this self-help program.

For change to happen, however, you will need to make a commitment to regularly doing the exercises in the program. Changing your routines and habits requires motivation.

Stop and think about these things before starting the self-help program

How much of your daily routine are you willing to change to achieve more, better-quality sleep?
